USS Arizona

"Arizona" has been the name of three ships of the United States Navy. They were all named after the state of Arizona, which was admitted to the Union as a state on 14 February 1912. Prior to that, it had been known as Arizona Territory.

*USS|Arizona|1858, was laid down in 1858 and served in the American Civil War.

*USS|Arizona|1869, was a steam frigate launched in 1865 as the USS "Neshaminy". She was renamed twice, carrying the name "Arizona" for less than three months.

*USS|Arizona|BB-39, was a "Pennsylvania"-class battleship that Japanese bombers sank in the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
