Ala Moana Center inHonolulu, Hawaii is the largest open air shopping center in the world.Fact|date=July 2008In the case of the
King of Prussia Mall inKing of Prussia, Pennsylvania , the mall consists of three connected sections on one contiguous piece of property: The Plaza, The Court, and The Pavilion (a formerStrawbridge & Clothier ). The Court and Pavilion are simply unique names for two sections of the same building. The Plaza building is connected to the Court/Pavilion building by a covered walkway across the parking lot. The entire complex is managed by a single company; however, the Plaza and Court are owned by one company, and the Pavilion is owned by another company. In the case of
South Coast Plaza inCosta Mesa, California , the mall consists of two connected sections on two adjacent pieces of property, divided by Bear St., a public thoroughfare in Costa Mesa. The two buildings are connected by a pedestrian bridge over Bear St.In the case of the
Tysons Corner, Virginia , there are two malls (Tysons Corner Center andTysons Galleria ) separated by a major thoroughfare (State Route 123). The two properties are not contiguous, nor even adjacent (they are about one-quarter mile apart), so they cannot be construed as part of the same mall.In the case of
Scottsdale Fashion Square , there are two large shopping areas, the actual mall itself and Scottsdale Waterfront. The two are adjacent, but are separated by a road, so only Fashion Square information is included. The
Mall of America is actually the largest mall in theUnited States in terms of floor area, but due toNickelodeon Universe the mall has less retail space available thanKing of Prussia Mall .The Eastwood Mall in
Niles, Ohio was formerly on the list. The mall has reported grossable lease space for the entirety of its complex including surrounding properties to the ICSC. The Director of Major Malls reports 1.6 million of grossable lease space enclosed within the mall proper, making it inelgible for inclusion.Fact|date=March 2008ee also
