Three great nobles

Three great nobles

In Japan, Three great nobles are figured playing an important role in the Meiji restoration. They are called nihongo|Ishin no Sanketsu|維新の三傑|Three outstanding heroes in the restoration in Japan.

They are:
* Ōkubo Toshimichi of the Satsuma Domain (Satsuma-han)
* Saigō Takamori of the Satsuma Domain (Satsuma-han)
* Kido Takayoshi (also known as Katsura Kogorō) of the Chōshū Domain (Chōshū-han)

These three people died one after another between 1877 (Meiji 10) and 1878 (Meiji 11).
