Tyrrelstown

Tyrrelstown (Irish: "Baile an Tirialaigh") is a rapidly expanding village in the northwest of Dublin, Ireland. It is located approximately 14 km from central Dublin. The area is classified as Dublin 15 by the postal system. The local authority for the area is Fingal County Council.

History

Tyrrelstown (often incorrectly spelt as Tyrellstown or Tyrrellstown) derives its name from that of the Tyrrell family, who were granted the lands in the parishes of Clonsilla and Mulhuddart in 1178 by the Norman, Hugh DeLacy. To the south there is Tyrrelstown House, a listed building dating back to 1720.
