St Joseph's Mundingburra Catholic School

St Joseph's Mundingburra is a Catholic School located in the Mundingburra Area of Townsville in Queensland, Australia. There is another school adjacent of the school called Mundingburra State School. The original founders of this school are the Sisters of St Joseph. It is now part of the [http://www.tsv.catholic.edu.au/ Townsville Catholic Education Office] .

History

Mary MacKillop is the patron for this school. Mary MacKillop was a catholic mission who established schools for the poor and under-educated people in Australia. Her her order are known as the "Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart" and some of them travel to different places establishing schools in Mary MacKillops name. Originally, the school was located in a residential area. Since then the school has grown to provide Catholic education to North Queensland. It is currently been moved to a new area in Mundingburra and is now a school with over 450 students. St Joseph's are known for their catholic ethos, teaching of the gospel values and the Josephite tradition.
