Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography, usually referred to as FPLC, is a form of column chromatography used to separate or purify proteins from complex mixtures by using Ion Chromatography. It is very commonly used in biochemistry and enzymology. Columns used with an FPLC can separate macromolecules based on size, charge distribution, hydrophobicity, or biorecognition (as with affinity chromatography).cite journal |author=Verbeke K, Verbruggen A |title=Usefulness of fast protein liquid chromatography as an alternative to high performance liquid chromatography of 99mTc-labelled human serum albumin preparations |journal=J Pharm Biomed Anal |volume=14 |issue=8-10 |pages=1209–13 |year=1996 |month=June |pmid=8818035 |doi= |url=http://linkinghub.elsevier.com/retrieve/pii/0731-7085(95)01755-0]
