Shingo Takagi (鷹木信悟, born November 21 1982 in Yamanashi) is a former Japanese bodybuilder, turned professional wrestler. Shingo is currently competing for the Japanese promotion Dragon Gate, where he is a member of the Typhoon stable and the current Open the Dream Gate Champion. He spent an extended run with the American promotions Ring of Honor and Full Impact Pro.

Career

Shingo debuted on October 3 2004 as the first graduate of the Dragon Gate Dojo. He is also a graduate of the Animal Hamaguchi Dojo. Shingo won the 2005 Wrestling Observer Rookie of the Year award.

In Dragon Gate, Shingo became a member of the Blood Generation stable. From there he, along with several other Dragon Gate wrestlers, began wrestling for Ring of Honor in America. Shingo made several ROH appearances before becoming a regular wrestler in ROH in late 2006. He became one half of the ROH World Tag Team Champions on March 3, 2007, with Naruki Doi, beating the Briscoe Brothers in Liverpool, England. The two would lose the title back to the Briscoes at "All–Star Extravaganza III" on March 30.

Shingo had his final official ROH match at "Good Times, Great Memories" on April 28, 2007, unsuccessfully challenging Takeshi Morishima for the ROH World Championship.

On May 10 2007, shortly after forming the stable New Hazard, Takagi - along with BxB Hulk and Cyber Kong - defeated the Typhoon team of CIMA, Susumu Yokosuka, and Ryo Saito for the Open the Triangle Gate Championship. They held the titles until July 13 2007 when the titles were vacated due to BxB Hulk receiving a jaw injury. They challenged for the vacant titles against the Muscle Outlaw'z team of Naruki Doi, Masato Yoshino, and Magnitude Kishiwada with Jack Evans as a replacement. They were unsuccessful in regaining the titles.

He challenged the Briscoe Brothers for ROH World Tag Team Championship unsuccessfully at ROH's Live in Osaka with his partner Susumu Yokosuka on July 17.

On September 5th, 2007 he made his Hawaii debut for Action Zone Wrestling (AZW) teaming with Sabaki in a losing effort to AZW Tag Team Champions Devilshock but he won the AZW fans over with his in ring skills and charisma.

On May 14, 2008, Shingo - along with Cyber Kong - turned on BxB Hulk just before they were scheduled to defend their Open the Triangle Gate titles against Genki Horiguchi, Gamma & YAMATO of the Muscle Outlaw'z, citing Hulk as a weakling. Shingo and Kong then joined up with Genki, Gamma, YAMATO & Yasushi Kanda, ending both New Hazard and Muscle Outlaw'z and starting up Real Hazard. He then teamed with Gamma and YAMATO to win the newly-vacant Open the Triangle Gate titles, besting Naruki Doi, Masato Yoshino & Hulk.

On June 28, he, Gamma & YAMATO would lose the Open the Triangle Gate titles to Keni'chiro Arai, Taku Iwasa & Shinobu of Tozawa-juku, and the following day, he fought BxB Hulk to a one-hour draw in a #1 contender's match for CIMA's Open the Dream Gate Championship. They were immediately scheduled for a rematch on July 27, but this time the recently-vacated Open the Dream Gate Championship would be on the line (CIMA had to vacate due to a neck injury). On July 10, he stopped Real Hazard and Tokyo Gurentai members from trying to give CIMA an unwanted haircut, causing some tension amongst his teammates, especially Cyber Kong.

On July 27, Shingo defeated BxB Hulk to win the Open the Dream Gate Title. After the match, Shingo got on the microphone and apologized to Hulk by retracting his statement about him being weak, and the two shook hands. Soon after, Cyber Kong went after CIMA at the announce table, and the rest of Real Hazard were fixing to jump in and help him, but Shingo stopped him. After a brief argument, Real Hazard attacked Shingo and kicked him out of the group for showing compassion for Hulk and CIMA. Typhoon saved him and offered him membership, and while he turned their offer down, he did agree to team with Dragon Kid for the promotion's Summer Adventure Tag League Tournament. They got to the finals, but lost to Naruki Doi & Masato Yoshino. Shingo then formally joined Typhoon a couple of days later.
