Darlington Railway Athletic F.C. is a football club based in Darlington, England. In 1992 the club hit financial trouble and folded, but was reformed by Martyn Jackson in 1993.

They first joined the Northern League in 1919, leaving in 1925. The club won the Wearside Football League in 2005 which earned them promotion back to the Northern League, where in their first season they won another promotion to reach the Northern League Division One. However, they were relegated straight back down again, and currently are once again in Northern League Division Two.

History

The club was formed shortly after the First World Warand started out in the Darlington & District League. Little is known of the club in the early seasons but in the 1919–20 season the club joined the Northern League. They found the going tough and after finishing second bottom in the 1924–25 season they returned to the Darlington & District League.

The second era came in the 60's and 70's. With an upturn in form the club went through possibly its most rewarding period accumulating a number of honours. In 1964 they won the Darlington & District League and then the League and League Cup double in 1968. Two years later they were North Riding Cup winners and runners-up in 1973. Then came the clubs greatest success, their triumph in the 1975 Durham Amateur Cup. In 1981 they almost repeated the feat, narrowly losing in the final.
