The Ottawa language (also known as Odawa language, "Daawaamwin" or "Nishnaabemwin") is a dialect of "Anishinaabemowin" spoken by the Odawa/Ottawa peoples. It is spoken in Ontario and Michigan, especially on Manitoulin Island and is going through revitalization in Oklahoma. "Nishnaabemwin" is characterised by its high degree of vowel syncope, when compared with other Ojibwa-Potawatomi-Ottawa language dialects.
