- Bayshore Station (OC Transpo)
Bayshore Transitway Station is a bus-stop on
Ottawa ,Ontario ,Canada 's transitway served byOC Transpo buses. It is located in the western transitway section at theBayshore Shopping Centre . It is the western terminus for Rapid Transit Bus Routes 97 and 101 (except for peak periods) as well as other crosstown routes such as the 2 (some trips) and the 85.It is one of the newer stations (and remains incomplete); previously buses used Woodridge Crescent and entered the parking lot, which is prone to congestion and extensive delays. Due to Bayshore management, Routes 2, 97, 154 & 172 have to travel around the shopping centre, on Richmond Road and on Holly Acres Road to enter the small bus-route access to the station. This is because there are no access to Woodridge Crescent (first left) from Richmond Road (except emergency vehicles). Eastbound trips of these 4 routes does travel on Woodridge Crescent, then on Bayshore Drive and then their regular route from Richmond Road.
A second platform to allow Route 96 buses to zoom in and out of the station has been planned once a dedicated bus-only road is built between Lincoln Fields and Bayshore. According to the Ottawa Transportation Master Plan the road should be constructed for 2008. This may eliminate the detours for Routes 2, 97, 154, 172, while express routes may also serve the station. Even with the traffic slowdowns that sometimes appears nearby Highway 417, some express trips zoom through the station to avoid losing significant time.
