Ascott-under-Wychwood is a village and civil parish in the West Oxfordshire district of Oxfordshire.

Location

Ascott-under-Wychwood is located on the south bank of the River Evenlode and is named for the historic forest of Wychwood. Ascott-under-Wychwood is a close neighbour to the other ancient Wychwood villages, Shipton-under-Wychwood, Milton-under-Wychwood, Fifield, Idbury and Leafield. The population was 504 according to the 2001 census.

The village contains the Ascott-under-Wychwood railway station, which is on the Cotswold Line.The long barrow of Cotswold-Severn type on the upper Evenlode (NGR SP299175, OXF 6) was excavated in the late 1960s. The excavation report has recently been published.
