The Buffalo Chips Running Club is the largest and oldest running club in Sacramento, California. The club was founded in 1974 and has nearly a thousand members, over half of whom are female.
Although the club boasts a number of top national caliber runners, particularly in the older age brackets, the majority are beginning runners, recreational joggers, and middle- to back-of-the-pack fun run participants. The club also has a race walking group and an active youth program, the Chip Youths, which started in 1993.
The "Buffalo Enquirer", the club's bimonthly 40-50 page news magazine, keeps members abreast of club activities, running events, and race results. It was awarded the 'Outstanding Large Club Newsletter of the Year' in 1992 and 1995 by the Road Runners Club of America.
