Dorota Rabczewska, or more accurately Dorota Rabczewska-Majdan, nicknamed Doda or Doda Elektroda, (born February 15, 1984, in Ciechanów, Poland) is a famous Polish singer with one of the largest number of awards in Poland.

Biography

Doda was born to Wanda and Paweł Rabczewskis. Her older brother, Rafał, is currently her manager.

In youth she was coached in athletics for four years (long jump, 100 metres). She won at Championships of Voivodeship for 1000 and 600 metres and shot put. She also won bronze at Championship of Poland. She has quit sport for dance and song. Doda started career at the age of 14 with her projections at the Buffo Theatre in Warsaw. Simultaneously she was taking singing lessons from Elżbieta Zapendowska (one of the fairest teachers of singing in Poland). She earned popularity due to her participation in the reality show "Bar".

In 2000, at the age of 16, Rabczewska became the vocalist of the Polish rock band Virgin. In December 2005 and October 2007, she posed nude for the Polish edition of Playboy Magazine. She also posed for CKM Magazine several times.

Rabczewska joined Mensa International in 2004, at the age of 20, and she is reported to have an IQ of 156 on the Cattell scale, which has a standard deviation of 24. On March 5, 2005, Rabczewska married Polish goalkeeper Radosław Majdan, whom she later divorced. At the 2005 Sopot International Song Festival, Rabczewska won the "Srebrny Słowik" Music Award.

In 2006 she lent voice in the dubbing for Asterix and the Vikings (as Abba).

Doda received a Superjedynka award on National Festival of Polish Song in Opole in 2006.

In 2007, she left Virgin to begin a solo career. Her first solo album released in 2007 was certified as gold on the day before its official release. In 2008 her album titled "Diamond Bitch" was certified a double platinum after 60,000 copies of the album had been sold.

Rabczewska takes part in a reality show "Jazda z Dodą" which is aired on TVN Turbo.

Doda won three awards at VIVA (Poland) Comet 2007 in the following categories: Female Artist of the Year, Image of the Year, Video of the Year (for "Katharsis" videoclip). At MTV Europe Music Awards 2007 Doda won in the category Best Polish Act. Doda also received a Superjedynka on 2008 National Festival of Polish Song in Opole as the Best Artist.

Controversies

Doda often refers to herself as the "Queen" while treating other people with disrespect even on live TV. Recently, Doda spat on cabaret actors from the KMN group for using her name in a sketch. Her stint with Playboy has also caused controversy in PolandFact|date=July 2008.
