KT (formerly, Korea Telecom, Korean: 한국통신, NYSE|KT) is a prominent South Korea's integrated wired/wireless telecommunication service provider. KT has developed an information & communications business for the last 25 years after privatization, and has the largest portion of the South Korean local telephone and high-speed Internet business.
Among its products is the wireless broadband service(WIBRO).

KT History

On August 20, 1885, The Hansung Telegraphy Ministry was established as the first Telecom Authority in Korea, and on December 10, 1981, Korea Telecom Authority was founded.

*January 1, 1983: First installation of Korean-made DDD-type public telephones
*August 1, 1983: International Subscriber Dialing (ISD) service started
*April 25, 1984: TDX-1, fully digitized telephone switching system, developed

*October 29, 1984: Kwanghwamun Telecommunication Center, the previous headquarters of KT, completed
