Sports and activities

Lakeside High School is home of the Lakeside Knights. The Lakeside Knights were known as the Plummer Pirates until 1990 when the school changed its name. The colors for all teams are red, black, and white. Lakeside High School sports five athletic teams including Football, both boys and girls Basketball, Volleyball, Track and Field), and Wrestling. All sports (except for wrestling), participate in the North Star League, a 1A division of the Idaho High School Athletic Association (IHSAA). The four other teams that participate in the North Star League are the Wallace Miners, Clark Fork Wampus Cats, Kootenai Warriors, and the Mullan Tigers. Until 2006, Post Falls Christian Academy also fielded teams in the North Star League, but left the league after disbanding it's high school portion of its school. After the 2007 season, Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy was in the North Star League before moving into the 2A Classification.

Lakeside Knight Football

The Lakeside Knights football team has been the pride of the Plummer/Worley area for more than 50 years. The Lakeside Knights football team plays in the 1A Eight-Man football conference of the IHSAA. In 2004, the IHSAA created two divisions in the 1A Eight-Man conference. Any school that has more than 100 students in the 1A conference was considered Big School. Any school that has less than 100 students in the 1A conference was considered Small School. Lakeside, along with Wallace, broke off from the rest of the North Star League to create the 1A Eight-Man Big School Division of the North Star League. Subsequently, Clarfork, Kootenai, and Mullan formed 1A Eight-Man Small School Division of the North Star League. In 2008, this division was implemented for the entire state in 1A football. Because of this change, the Knights vie for the one and only spots the state gives to the North Star Conference's Big Schools. Lakeside's last visit to the state playoffs was 2001 where it was ousted in the first round by the Notus Pirates.

Lakeside Lady Knight Volleyball

Showing no mercy for its opponents, the Lakeside Lady Knights Volleyball team has been a feared competitor in North Idaho high school athletics for many years. The Lady Knights Volleyball team plays in the North Star League along with Mullan, Kootenai, and Clarkfork, and Wallace. Because the big school/small school classification was implemented throughout 1A sports, Lakeside must do more to make state then the football team. To make state, Lakeside must beat Wallace in a one game playoff game no matter how many times they win or lose during the regular season (the team with the better head-to-head record in the regular season gains home court advantage for this one playoff game). The winning team of this game then gains the right to play the third best team from the Whitepine league in central Idaho. The winner of this game then gains access to state. Lakeside fields a Varsity and Junior Varsity team in Volleyball.

*Head Coach/Varsity Coach: Jan Mitchell
