- William Maule, 1st Baron Panmure
William Ramsay, 1st Baron Panmure (27 October 1771 – 4 June 1852) was the son of George Ramsay, 8th Earl of Dalhousie.
On 1 December 1794, he married Patricia Heron Gordon and they had one child:
*Fox Maule Ramsay, 11th Earl of Dalhousie (1801–1874)
Patricia died in 1821 and on 4 June 1822, William married Elizabeth Barton. In 1831 he was created Baron Panmure.
Lord Panmure created a scandal when he departed to Italy with Christina Mackay. He remained with her, predominantly in Italy, until his death in 1852. Together they had one illegitimate child James Mackay. James Mackay married Deborah Lyle of Nova Scotia and their second son was James Lyle Mackay, 1st Earl of Inchcape.
