Peter Anders (songwriter)

Peter Andreoli (b. April 28, 1941), also known as Peter Anders is an American singer and songwriter,

Andreoli was born in New York. He grew up to become a record producer and vocalist. Ander's wrote the hit song "Mr. Loney" with his partner Vini Poncia, than later wrote the hit "New York is a Lonely Town" that launched The Tradewinds, who later recorded as The Innocence and Anders and Poncia. In 1968, working with his friend and colleague Vincent Poncia Jr., Ander's released The Anders And Poncia Album produced by Richard Perry. Track 7, Smokey Joe's Cafe, features Ry Cooder on bottleneck guitar.

In 1968 together with Frank Mell (aka Melouso) and Vini Poncia, Ander's founded Map City Records up on 55th Street off Broadway in New York City. They hired a recording engineer named [http://creativity.net/CCHistory.html Peter H. Rosen] who took the studio from three track recording to four tracks during the recording of the Ander's and Poncia Album. The studio recorded demo's for Popcorn Blizzard, Cool and the Gang and personal friend's from Rhode Island, "the Blue Jay's."

Peter Anders and Vini Poncia produced the Blue Jay's first album; recorded at Map City Records with Rosen at the controls. A first single from that album was a song titled "Hang On" by Dick Domane with the flip side, "Its a Hard Thing To Accept" by Johnny Vestano (both of the Blue Jay's). The single failed to make the charts and the band faded from view.

Anders would work late into the night playing guitar and singing... recording demo's of his material with Rosen at the controls of the studio's 4 track console made up of Ampeg rotary pot mixer's and pultec EQ's that made up the console. Ander invited many friends including Jay and the American's and Bobby Bloom (who had a hit with Montego Bay) to record in the studio and back him up in demo recordings of his songs. Bloom was hired to produce a Pepsi jingle, part of which was recorded at Map City Records.

Several years later Bloom accidentally shot himself (fatally) while cleaning a gun, in front of his wife and good friend Peter Anders, who later married Bloom's widow.

The studio had an old laquor disc cutting lathe. Map City Records had a contract with the Robert Stigwood Organization (RSO); publisher of the Brothers Gibb (the Bee Gee's) catalog of songs, to make demos of their tunes. Rosen would spend day after day at the lathe transferring reel after reel of song demo's from Gibb brothers tape recordings to actual records for distribution to other publishers and recording companies/recording acts.

With Jack Scungio & Rick Bellaire, he wrote a jingle for True Lemon (a crystallized lemon substitute).

He is currently working on a new album and is working with Rick Bellaire, he has been working on this album for 3+ years, and should be launched late 08. Surprise guest appearances will be on the album
