Jared Aulin

Jared Aulin (born March 15, 1982 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada) is a retired professional hockey centre who most recently played for the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League. He currently plays in Canadian Interuniversity Sport with the University of Calgary Dinos.

Junior career

After playing with the Airdrie Extreme in 1997–98, Aulin joined the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League as 16 year-old in 1998–99, netting 26 points in 55 games and a trip to the league finals. A 55 point 1999–2000 season (57 games) attracted the attention of the Colorado Avalanche, who drafted Aulin in the 2nd round (47th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He remained with the Blazers for two more seasons, racking up 175 points in 116 games.

Before the end of his junior career, Aulin won gold with Team Canada at the 2002 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, collecting 9 points in 7 tournament games.

Professional career

Before playing a regular season game with the Avalanche, Aulin was traded to the Los Angeles Kings in an exchange that saw Rob Blake head to Colorado.

He spent the next five season splitting time between the AHL and NHL playing 17 games for the Kings during the 2002–03 season. In addition to the Falcons, Aulin also played in the AHL for the Manchester Monarchs, Portland Pirates, and Hershey Bears.

Personal info

Aulin was the victim of a two-handed slash to the neck during a game in a summer league which left him severely injured and forced him to retire from professional hockey. While playing with the Los Angeles Kings, Aulin was rumored to be dating Paris Hilton.
