Birchwood railway station is a railway station serving the Birchwood district to the north east of Warrington, Cheshire, in the north west of England. The station is 21 km (13¼ miles) west of Manchester Piccadilly on the Manchester-Liverpool Line.

The station is operated by First TransPennine Express, and is on the southern route of the Liverpool to Manchester Line. It is manned full-time (between 0610 and 2345 Mondays-Saturdays and 0825 and 2320 Sundays). It is across from the main Birchwood shopping complex and is well served by onward transportation to all parts of Birchwood and further afield.

There is sheltered seating on the Liverpool-bound platform, and a ticket office with seating on the Manchester-bound platform. A footbridge connects the two platforms. There is also a news kiosk open six days a week. Outside the station there is a bus stop and the station is close to the Birchwood shopping mall.

The ticket office is open until around 2200 (occasionally earlier or later), though it does occasionally close during the day whilst staff carry out other duties. During the daytime there are three staff members on the station (station clerk, kiosk and a cleaner), and two of an evening (station clerk and a security guard). When the ticket office is closed there is a ticket machine in the station lobby.

Monday to Saturday service

During the off-peak (for example 1000 Mon-Fri), comprises four (two per direction) Northern Rail services between Liverpool and Manchester per hour and two services (one per direction) between Liverpool and the North East (Scarborough, Newcastle, Middlesbrough or York) per hour. This is in the following pattern:

::Glazebrook (even hours), Irlam, Flixton, Chassen Road (even hours), Urmston, Humphrey Park (odd hours), Trafford Park (odd hours), Manchester Deansgate and Manchester Oxford Road

*xx:22 is the express service to Liverpool Lime Street (First TransPennine Express) calling at:

::Warrington Central, "Hunts Cross" and Liverpool Lime Street

*xx:37 is a semi-fast service to Liverpool Lime Street (Northern Rail) calling at:

::Padgate, Warrington Central, Widnes, Hough Green, Liverpool South Parkway, Mossley Hill and Liverpool Lime Street

*xx:40 is a semi-fast service to Manchester Oxford Road (Northern Rail) calling at:

::Irlam, Urmston, Manchester Deansgate and Manchester Oxford Road

*xx:49 is the service to Scarborough calling at:

*There is also a daily service to Newcastle (0649) and Middlesbrough (1549), there is also a weekly train to Hull (1249 SuO). Services calling Birchwood after 1900 terminate at York.

Peak Northern Services run an all stations service. Peak TransPennine Express services call additionally at Irlam (morning peak) and Hunts Cross (evening peak). There are also peak hour only East Midlands Trains service between Liverpool and Norwich these are:
