Témiscaming is a town located at the south end of Lac Témiscamingue on the upper
Ottawa River in the Témiscamingue Regional County Municipality of westernQuebec ,Canada . Also nearby isLac Kipawa , which is the lake that has the most coastline in Canada.CKVM-FM has a retransmitter in Témiscaming.History
The town was established in 1917 by the Riordon Pulp and Paper Company who built the Kipawa Mills
pulp and paper mill there. Designed according to a Garden City plan by Scottish architectThomas Adams (1871-1940), the town was originally named Kipawa in 1920 but was renamed the following year. The town and mill were bought by theCanadian International Paper Company in 1925. In 1972, when the company decided to close the mill, the employees formedTembec to take over the operation of the mill.The
