One for One is a compilation album of previously unissued tracks by American jazz pianist Andrew Hill featuring performances recorded in 1965, 1969 and 1970 but not released on the Blue Note label until 1975 as a double album set.[1] The album features 11 of Hill's compositions, five tracks which would later be released on The Complete Blue Note Andrew Hill Sessions (1963-66) on Mosaic Records in 1995 (and in 2006 as Pax) and six which would feature on Mosaic Select 16 (2005).

Allmusic 3.5/5 stars[2]

The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow awarded the album 4 stars stating "Andrew Hill's music and piano playing, which is not easily classified (the term "avant-garde" does not do him justice), not too surprisingly never caught on with a wider audience, although it still sounds quite fresh and unpredictable today... and they certainly challenge these major players — no coasting allowed".[2]
