Multi-conjugate Adaptive optics Demonstrator

Multi-conjugate Adaptive optics Demonstrator

Multi-conjugate Adaptive optics Demonstrator (MAD), is a device that allows the ESO VLT to observe celestial objects better through Earth's atmosphere. MAD provides the observer with an image free from the blurring effect created by atmospheric turbulence. The system uses a computer controlled deformable mirror that makes corrections for image distortion through real-time data processing.[1][2]
