The School of Information Studies (SIS) at McGill University is engaged in the education of information professionals, individuals who can make a difference to the management and design of information resources, services, and systems to ensure adequate access to information and knowledge for all.
SIS inherits the rich traditions of service from librarianship. As the pioneer school in Canada, SIS has been offering programs at McGill since 1897, and its MLIS degree has been continuously accredited by the American Library Association since 1929.[1]
Programs
SIS offers the following programs[2]:
- Master of Library and Information Studies, with streams in Librarianship, Archival Studies, or Knowledge Management
- Ph.D. in Information Studies
- Graduate Certificate in Library and Information Studies
- Graduate Diploma in Library and Information Studies
Research
SIS professors are engaged in four major research areas on a variety of projects funded by a number of major research agencies.
