Dreamkind develops interactive digital media for non-profit organizations, children’s media companies, educational groups, and toy companies. In addition, Dreamkind develops animations, apps and other digital media under its own brand.

Games and Applications

Dreamkind has developed an online game and series of animations for Sesame Workshop’s Emmy Award Winning Television Show, The Electric Company. The game, The Next Electric Company Star, is an American Idol spoof, starring characters from The Electric Company animated shorts “Pets Home Alone” and “Haunted House,” as well as four new characters. Like the television show and its curriculum, this game was designed for struggling readers ages 6-9.

In 2011, Dreamkind has developed a number of iPhone and iPad apps, including the Moody Monster iPhone and iPad app for Alex Toys. In this game, children ages 3-8 learn about different emotions and coping mechanisms. The game has an avatar creation page, 4 mini-games, a merit badge incentive system, and numerous other features. The mini-games place the child in the position of helping the monsters with emotions like fear, anxiety, and confusion.

In 2010, in collaboration with the U.N. World Food Program (WFP), Dreamkind created Sproutster, a free app which allows players to grow virtual rice while playing a word-building game. Dreamkind donates an amount of real rice, equivalent to the virtual amount grown in the game, to the WFP. The game reached #1 in iPad educational games.

In 2010, Dreamkind developed 3 apps for Infantino, and its parent company, The Step2 Company. Each of these apps relied on a different core iOS technologies, play patterns and age grades. The games – Spin & Say Animals, Hide & Seek Babies, and Musical Rainbows – teach counting, problem solving, and matching.

Dreamkind also develops apps and other forms of digital media under its own brand. In addition to Sproutster, Dreamkind has 3 iPhone and iPad apps under the Dreamkind brand: Frankenstein Matchmaker, Office Riot, and Major League Bugball.

Major League Bugball is a math-based game that teaches addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, while playing a bug’s version of baseball. Using the accelerometer, the bug player hits mud balls with the correct number on it, while dodging incorrect answers. The game has four modes – Minor League, Major League, All-Star, and Hall of Fame. Each mode increases the difficulty level of math, from simple addition in Minor League, to division and multiplication with two missing numbers in the Hall of Fame mode.

Frankenstein Matchmaker is a fast-paced vocabulary game in which cupid shoots arrows at different types of approaching Frankenstein monsters. Cupid is trying to make as many matches as possible before the monsters can reach the castle. There are multiple modes: “Opposites Attract” (antonyms), “We Heart the Same Things” (synonyms), and others.

Office Riot is a side-scrolling, comic strip-style game in which the player, the president of X-Ploit Industries, has to escape his mutinous office. Using the accelerometer, the player has to dodge the falling objects that the angry employees are throwing. There are numerous obstacles, power-ups, and game play dynamics.

Animations

Dreamkind also has a number of animated series, including series for clients and series under its own brand. Most recently, Dreamkind created a web series called the Zoodles for the toy company Giddy Up. The series, a comedy about a family called the Zoodles, is a Flash Animation for the web.
