Dorfy (Dorothy Samuelson-Sandvid), is a noted dialect author and journalist who specialises in the Geordie dialect.

Born in to a Quaker family in George Scott Street, South Shields, England^[1] influenced by her childhood, she went on to write works concerned with the Geordie dialect.^[2]

Dorfy also had her own column for many years in the South Shields Gazette revolving around her early twentieth century South Shields upbringing; spoken in the Geordie dialect.^[1] In her later years she retired to Hexham.^[3]
