David Marchick

David Marchick

David M. Marchick was the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and director of intergovernmental affairs in the Office of the United States Trade Representative during the Clinton Administration.[1] While working under Clinton, he helped to coordinate the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement and the creation of the World Trade Organization.[2] He is currently Managing Director and Global Head of Regulatory Affairs at the Carlyle Group. Prior to his tenure at Carlyle, Marchick worked as a partner at Covington & Burling, where he advised U.S. and foreign companies on regulatory and strategic issues.[2] Marchick was identified as a lobbyist for the Halliburton Corporation during the series of controversies that involved the company during the Iraq War, by a series of filings submitted under the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 (See:Covington & Burling#Halliburton). He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.[1]
