Corey Scott Kluber (born April 10, 1986 in Birmingham, Alabama) is a right-handed American pitcher for the Cleveland Indians in Major League Baseball.[1]

Baseball career

Kluber attended Stetson University.[1] He was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-Atlantic Region Second Team in 2007.[2]

Kluber was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the fourth round of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft.[3]

On August 25, 2008, he was named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week.[1] On June 1, 2009, he was named the California League Pitcher of the Week.[1] On July 26, 2010, Kluber was named the Texas League Pitcher of the Week.[1] The Padres traded him to the Indians in late July 2010 in the three team trade between the Padres, Indians, and St. Louis Cardinals that sent Jake Westbrook to the Cardinals and Ryan Ludwick to the Padres.[4] After the 2010 season, he took part in the Indians' Winter Development Program.[5] In 2011, he was placed on the Indians' 40-man roster.[6]

Kluber was called up to the Indians on September 1, 2011.

He relies primarily on a fastball and a slider.[4]
