Rhein, also known as cassic acid, is a substance in the anthraquinone group found in rhubarb species like Rheum undulatum[2] or Rheum palmatum[1] or in Cassia reticulata.[3] Rhein has been reevaluated as a new antibacterial agent against Staphylococcus aureus in 2008.[4]
