Chanakya Institute of Public Leadership

Chanakya Institute of Public Leadership

Chanakya Institute of Public Leadership (CIPL) is the first of its kind public leadership training institute in India. It is a training school for future leaders inspired by the ancient Indian Wisdom. CIPL, supported by the SPM Foundation, aims to institutionalize the ancient Indian spiritual knowledge with an emphasis on its practical application in society to create a model society that can sustain for generations to come.

Current Scenario of Politics in India-

There are over 6 lakh people directly related to the political field with no formal training. Usually it is learning the job ‘on the job’ and entry into politics is largely by default or as a family legacy. Politics in India has failed to attract the best talent since there is no job security or a well-defined career path and is associated with being anti social.

Issues facing the political system in India: Some of the issues that are impeding the growth and are systemic to politics in India can be summarized as follows: - Declining values and ideals in politics - Power the only pursuit of all political parties - Leadership crisis in almost all political parties (of national stature) - Deteriorating standards in 2 out of 3 primary responsibilities of political leaders (Security, Employment/Economy, Values) - A political system that is intolerant to efficiency / effectiveness

Guru Shishya Parampara

This format enjoys several advantages over the conventional models: •Gurukul – This ancient Indian format of pedagogy would ensure that the students undergo the training in a dedicated manner and in the right ambience •Merit of the student will be the only crieterion to receive knowledge and the ‘no fee’ structure will relieve the students fron the burden of seeking a return on the investment made to undertake the course •The model will give society value based and spiritually grounded leaders •The model of imparting state of the art knowledge, unconditionally, will be a demonstrated act of selflessness for students to imbibe (Arthashastra demonstrated) •The students would revere the knowledge received from an Institute which is not created for profiteering •Institute’s alumni would be bonded to their alma mater through an unseen umbilical cord •The emphasis thus is to build a self sustaining institution of ‘Character’ and not just reputation
