Squoval

"Squoval" is a portmanteau of the terms and shapes "square" and "oval." The word can refer to the not quite oval, not quite square shape of a fingernail or toenail. "Essentially a conservative square with the length of a square nail but the softer edges of an oval" the term was coined in 1984 by Paula Gilmore, a prominent educator, according to PetersCrowley, Tim (2007). "Getting Nails Into Shape", "Nails", p.81. [http://www.nailsmag.com/pastIssues/issue.aspx?iid=58 November issue] accessed 02/15/08.] . This style was popular in the 1990s, and is still a popular natural nail shape.

Squoval also refers to a style of haircut. Short hair can be cut near the neckline in "squoval" fashion at the corners near the shoulders.Fact|date=February 2008
