Ananda Bhairavi

"Ananda Bhairavi" is a 1984 Indian film directed by Jandhyala. It starred Girish Karnad, Malavika, and Rajesh; Ramesh Naidu was the music director.

Girish Karnad, Mallika, Rajesh and JV Ramana Murthy are among the cast. Jandhyala directed the movie produced under the banner of Kalyani Art Films by K. Ravi Prakash and T. Suneetha. It had music by Ramesh Naidu and cinematography by S. Gopala Reddy. 'Ananda Bhairavi' won Jandhyala, who is known as the king of comedy in Tollywood, the State Government's golden Nandi award.

This is a movie which gives you an idea about the origin of kuchipudi dance. It is about the people who considered a boy performing "kuchipudi" dance an embarrassment and about a man who is fighting tooth and nail to pass on the heritage of "kuchipudi". He finally manages to find a girl who he trains in "kuchipudi". As, girls learning kuchipudi was not accepted in that era he gets outcast from his caste, place and also the religious places.

Movies like these are not re made and are lost in time. This is one of Girish Karnad's best performances.
