The Lahore School of Economics was established in 1993 and chartered by the Government of Punjab in January 1997, through The Lahore School of Economics Act 1997 (Provincial Assembly of the Punjab - Act II of 1997). It is based in the city of Lahore, Pakistan.
The Lahore School of Economics has two campuses: the Main campus and the City campus. The Main campus, spread over 35 acres, is located on the intersection of DHA Phase VI, Main Boulevard and Burki Road. The City campus is located in Gulberg near the central Liberty Market area.

The Lahore School's Research Centre, known as CAREB, takes part in national and international levels of research. CAREB is closely associated with various governmental and non-governmental research wings and think tanks.Fact|date=September 2008 The university also conducts a student exchange program with Bahcesehir University, Turkey for existing students, faculty and alumni.
Campus life and student run societies
The Lahore School's Main campus hosts a variety of facilities to cater to the student body. The campus is equipped with two libraries and five computer labs. The university also houses a sporting complex along with two soccer pitches, a cricket pitch, basketball court and volleyball court. The university's media centre houses a small cinema and studio.
