Gabriele Tredozi

Gabriele Tredozi

Gabriele Tredozi was born September 9, 1957 in the town of Brisighella, close to Imola, Italy. Mad about cars, he dreamed that one day he might somehow become involved in Formula One racing. This passion was translated into mechanical engineering studies at the famous engineering school at Bologna University. While he was still a student he heard that Minardi was looking for engineers and went for an interview at the Minardi headquarters in Faenza, just down the road from Brisighella. He was hired immediately and in 1988 began working with the race team as an assistant race engineer with Pierluigi Martini and Adrián Campos. His relationship with Martini was a long-term one, engineering Martini for a total of five seasons: between 1989 and 1991 and then again during 1994 and 1995 when Martini returned to the team when Minardi and BMS Scuderia Italia merged.

In between his two stints with Martini he also engineered Christian Fittipaldi in 1992 and Fabrizio Barbazza in 1993. He remained a race engineer until 1996 when he looked after Pedro Lamy. In 1997, following the departure of Aldo Costa to Ferrari, he was appointed technical coordinator of the team. Responsible for both the design and production areas as well as for on-track technical management, he stayed in that role under technical director Gustav Brunner. When Brunner went off to Toyota in 2001, Tredozi became technical director at Faenza, where he controls the day-to-day operation of the drawing office as well as the technical staff. When Minardi was bought and turned into Scuderia Toro Rosso, he stayed on until he was replaced by Alex Hitzinger in mid-2006.

Married to Claudia, he has one son, Tommaso. His main hobby is cycling.
