Eli Hentze is a former Faroese football midfielder/striker. He is currently managing B71.

Spending all of his footballing-career with the same team, it is safe to say that he might very well be the longest serving player ever for his local team B71, in addition to being its most prolific goalscorer. For the time being, however, this remains guesswork, since very little statistics are available.

As well as being a footballer and manager, Eli works as a teacher in Sandoy, and can sometimes be heard/seen commenting various football matches in Sjónvarp Føroya.

B71

Eli Hentze's B71 career is unique in the sense that he played all his life for just the one team. He started as a youth player, entered the senior side in the mid 80s before hanging up his boots in 2007, 38 years old. His last year as a player, he was also the head coach of the B71 team.Hentze's biggest (and only) major victories, as a senior player, came in 1989 when B71 finished first in the Faroese league, and in 1993 when they became Faroese Cup Winners.By the time Eli quit football, he had been the only active player left from the winning team of '89 for some time.

Media Reference

In 2006, Eli Hentze was portrayed in a skit featured in the annual cabaret-act held every Ólavssøka in The Faroe Islands. He was portrayed as a person with autism, saying "No" all the time. (a reference to his demeanor while commenting football matches on television)
