Rudolf Wolters

Rudolf Wolters (August 3, 1903 - September 1, 1983) was a German architect and Nazi sympathiser who believed that Adolf Hitler was the supreme builder and wrote several architectural based books including a biography on Albert Speer. Wolters believed:

:"It is the queen of the fine arts and a self-justifying necessity for powerful epochs; races and their leaders feel an inner duty and compulsion to document themselves and their age in stone monuments. If a race is strong, healthy, beautiful and gifted, then its architectural garment will show it."

The architect must believe, he must be prepared to give his utmost for the volk and the Völkisch movement. Wolters believed the monumental architecture of the Third Reich was the best German style; it was original and had no predecessors. Its singularity was found in the spirit it expressed. Wolters wrote that, while things like traffic regulation, slum clearance and creation of parks were important, Germany's vital task was the creation of new city centres:

:"new archtectural focii of a size, which will outshadow any private buildings."
