Dhirendra of Nepal

Dhirendra of Nepal

Dhirendra Bir Bikram Shah Deva of Nepal (4 Jan 1950 - 4 Jun 2001) was the youngest son of King Mahendra of Nepal, and his first wife, Queen Indra.

In May, 1973, he married a cousin (and the sister of his brother's wife, Queen Aishwarya), Princess Prekshya (1952 - 12 Nov 2001). From this marriage, he had three daughters:

  1. HRH Princess Puja Rajya Lakshmi Devi
  2. HRH Princess Sitashma Rajya Lakshmi Devi
  3. HRH Princess Dilasha Rajya Lakshmi Devi

In the 1980s, he divorced his wife and had a relationship with a British woman, Shirley Greaney. When Queen Aishwarya came to know of this affair from her sister, she had Dhirendra stripped of his titles and exiled from Nepal.

With Shirley shah, whom he married, Dhirendra had one child: shrawan bir bikram Shah (1 set 1994)

Dhirendra was killed in the palace massacre at Narayanhiti Palace, during one of his rare visits to the country.
