"Tormented" is Staind's first recording, self-released in 1996.

Previously only available in limited quantities in New England, "Tormented" has been re-released (without modification) in response to overwhelming demand from fans.

Many of the songs on the album deal with pain, hate and depression, including a gun being loaded, cocked, and fired at the start and finish, which (along with the hidden track "The Funeral") make it something of a concept album revolving around a depressed individual who eventually commits suicide.

The track "Come Again" was re-released with the CD single of "Right Here," the band's 2005 hit and Staind's 'Greatest Hits' album, released in 2006, it has also started being played at shows for the first time, along with "Break".

*General belief would be that this song would include a hidden track in it, due to its length at nearly 20 minutes, however this is not true, as the track is actually hidden in "4 Walls", which, with hidden tracks added, clocks in at 33:06. Obviously, this is the longest Staind song ever recorded

Miscellaneous

*When the album was released, friend and confidant Fred Durst reportedly burst into their dressing room before a show during their tour with Limp Bizkit, threw the album on the floor, and started screaming at them, offended by the cover art. Reportedly very religious at the time, he asked if they were a Satanic band.Fact|date=December 2007

*"Mudshuvel" was later re-recorded for the album "Dysfunction" as "Mudshovel".
