Beecher’s Trilobite type preservation

Beecher’s Trilobite type preservation

The Preservational regime of Beecher's Trilobite Beds involves the replacement of soft tissues with pyrite, producing a three dimensional fossil replicating the anatomy of the original organism.cite journal

The pyrite probably formed in voids left when soft tissue had decayed, and the tough exoskeleton demarked a cavity which could be filled by euhedral pyrite; as a result, no cellular detail survived the fossilisation process, and only organisms with a resistant cuticle can be preserved..cite journal
