- Newport Sex Scandal
The Newport Sex Scandal involved allegations in 1919 of "immoral conduct" (specifically, homosexuality) at the United States Navy base in Newport, Rhode Island, USA.
A central issue in the Newport Scandal was the use of young men in the Navy to seduce and exploit "sexual perverts" in the Newport community. Many of these young men were instructed to follow through with their mission until climax. The entire ordeal became an embarressment for the navy.
