London Buses route 486 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, United Kingdom. The service is currently contracted to London Central.

The route 486 is managed with a brand new fleet of Alexander Dennis Enviro400 (E) which were delivered in January 2007. The route passes Charlton Athletic Football Club's stadium in Charlton, so when Charlton play their home matches, the 486 is diverted via Frances Street to avoid the Road Closures due to the football supporters.

History

Route 486 was first introduced in February 2001, running between North Greenwich and Welling Corner. It replaced an express service between Charlton and North Greenwich, the M1, which served the Millennium Dome, but was actually far more popular with commuters using the new Jubilee Line extension than with Dome visitors.

Later it was extended to Bexleyheath, with double-deck buses replaing the unreliable singer-deckers inherited from the M1.
