List of members of NATO

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is a military alliance that consists of 26 member states from North America and Europe. It was established at the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty on 4 April 1949. Of the 26 members of NATO, two are North American countries (Canada and the US) and 24 are European countries.All members have militaries, except Iceland, which joined on the condition they would not have to create a military. Three of NATO's members have nuclear weapons: the United Kingdom, France, and the United States.
