Iconograph

Iconograph

An iconograph is a word-picture, in which text is laid out to look like the topic of the text. The word was popularized by American poet May Swenson in her 1970 book, "Iconographs", which contained a number of word-images with the poetry laid out to resemble the object, e.g. a butterfly.

The term may also refer to any illustration used in a printed text.

The iconograph is also one of the Minor Discworld concepts.
