Corporate Rescue and Insolvency is bi-monthly English-language journal. The journal offers commentary and analysis on all areas of domestic and international insolvency and restructuring law for those that are involved in helping businesses restructure.

The editorial board is made up of practising and academic lawyers and is further supported by a panel of contributing law, accountancy firms and organisations who provide content focusing on the very latest in legal developments, key themes and trends in the market.

Features

The journal offers a mix of features; In Practice articles covering both technical and practical issues; and International features. Our regular features are written by lawyers and experts in corporate restructuring. The In Practice section gives a balance of contentious and non-contentious issues. Features in this section offer practical advice into restructuring and insolvency problems together with analysis of some of the issues that can arise. Authors on the In Practice team include solicitors at Freshfields, Eversheds, Norton Rose, Dickinson Dees and offering an alternative view, the section also includes features by KPMG.

The International features cover developments in the international arena and are covered by contributors from Slaughter and May, Denton Wilde Sapte, Lovells, and again, to give different perspective, from members of the Begbies Global Network.

All features have a key points box that selects the "take home" facts and allows for a quick assessment of the article’s relevance. Each piece provides a short biography about the author with author contact details should further exploration of a topic be required.

Regular sections also include:

  • Turnaround section offering interesting features from the Institute for Turnaround (IFT) and R3;
  • Legislative Update section provided by Ashurst;
  • Market Spotlight section, offering an at-a-glance summary of major developments in the restructuring and insolvency sector;
  • Sector Focus section providing views and opinions on insolvency and restructuring topics from other sectors; and
  • Comprehensive case coverage supplied by CMS Cameron McKenna in Case Reporter and a summary of recent cases by 11 Stone Buildings in Cases Alerter.

History

The journal was originally published under the title of Tolley's Insolvency Law & Practice (ILP) by Frank Cass & Co in January/February 1985. In 1991, the journal was sold to Tolley and through a series of mergers it became part of LexisNexis in 2003. LexisNexis is owned by Reed Elsevier.

Carolyn Swain was appointed editor in May 2007.

Most recently relaunched in January 2008, under the title of Corporate Rescue and Insolvency, the journal builds on the strengths of ILP but now also offers shorter, know-how, practical articles, further sections and a new easy-to-read layout.
