David E. Cooper

David E. Cooper is Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at Durham University.[1] He has published over one hundred and fifty articles across a broad range of philosophical subjects, especially the history of both Eastern and Western philosophy, environmental ethics, philosophy of language, aesthetics and modern European philosophy. He is the former Chair (or President) of the Aristotelian Society, the Mind Association, the Friedrich Nietzsche Society, and the Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain. He is currently a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka. He is the author of a number of books, including World Philosophies, Meaning,[2] Existentialism: A Reconstruction, and A Philosophy of Gardens.[3] He has also edited a number of collections, including Philosophy: The Classic Readings,[4] Epistemology: The Classic Readings, Ethics: The Classic Readings and Aesthetics: The Classic Readings.
