alpha-sarcin
(= a-sarcin)
Anti-tumour factor (ribotoxin; 17 kD) from Aspergillus giganteus. Is generally cytotoxic and has high specificity as an RNAase, binding to the 28S rRNA. One of a family that includes mitogillin, restrictocin and AspFl.
