expression cloning

expression cloning
Method of gene cloning based on transfection of a large number of cells with cDNAs in an expression vector (eg. a cDNA library), then screening for a functional property (eg. binding of a radiolabelled hormone to identify receptors, or induction of transforming activity for putative oncogenes).
