aerolysin
Channel-forming bacterial exotoxin produced by Aeromonas hydrophila as a 50 kD protoxin that later has a 43 residue C-terminal peptide cleaved off to generate the active toxin. Binds to specific receptor on target cells (probably glycophorin on human erythrocytes, but may be other proteins in other cells) and polymerizes to form a heptameric complex that inserts into the plasma membrane and has a pore of approximately 1.5nm diameter with some properties similar to porin channels.
