Coxsackie viruses
Species of enteroviruses of the Picornaviridae first isolated in Coxsackie, N.Y. Coxsackie A produces diffuse myositis, Coxsackie B produces focal areas of degeneration in brain and skeletal muscle. Similar to polioviruses in chemical and physical properties.
