casein kinase
(= CKII)
Casein kinase II is thought to regulate a broad range of transcription factors in which it binds the basic leucine zipper (bZIP) DNA-binding domains. CKII is present in brain and has been associated with process of long-term potentiation by phosphorylating proteins important for neuronal plasticity.
