Hokkaido Hok*kai"do (h[o^]k*k[imac]"d[=o]), prop. n. [Jap.] The northernmost of the main islands of Japan. Together with the islands of Honshu, Kyushu and Shikoku it forms the bulk of the land area of Japan. [PJC]
